Greetings, I recently resurrected a computer from the dead for a friend by installing Ubuntu on it. Unfortunately, her WiFi card is flat out not doing anything. Not even showing error messages. I tried looking for info in ifconfig, but all that was there was info on lo (loopback). When I do a dmesg, it shows nothing of the wifi card. lspci lists it as:
0000:06:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.: Unknown device 8185 (rev 20) I looked at the windows driver cd that came with it and it identified it as: Realtek RTL8185 PCI/Cardbus 802.11g 54M Wireless LAN Network Interface Card As per a suggestion of someone else I tried running iwconfig, and got these results: lo no wireless extensions. irda0 no wireless extensions. sit0 no wireless extensions. Anyway, I'd rather like to get WiFi working on this system. Any advice on how to get it to work would be appreciated.
