The last couple years, I've felt like I needed an air conditioner maybe a
couple monthes and even then not for most of it. And I hate the heat
having grown up in the fog bank of Marin. Tried out a friend's air
conditioner last year and noticed the spike in the energy usage. yikes.

If your air conditioner is low energy and doesn't cost too much to ship,
bring it. Otherwise, you might want think some more. I actually like
just having a window open and a floor fan. If you're coming up from
Georgia, you'll probably think the weather is darn right chilly.

Actually another cooling trick I found was to run the furnace fan which
sucks the air from the basement into the rest of the house. Our basement
at least has a 20 degree difference from our top floor.
