I just installed Debian using debootstrap from a Knoppix disk. I had to do it that way since the install disks did not have a module for my SCSI controller. :(
Worked wonderfully. Have to set up many things manually (partitions, lilo, configuration files) but that's not a problem. And, since it was a network install, everything seemed to already be updated. I did install a few packages just to get everything running the way I would set-up clients. The only thing I can't seem to find is a url for apt to get OpenOffice. I can't believe there isn't one. Does anyone know where that is? Of course, I could just compile it ;) This is my first Debian install, so now it is off to Gentoo. Thanks for all of the suggestions over the last few days.
