OK Alice, if you'll just tell us which flavor of Linux your using we can
probably tell you the easiest way to install the program of your choice.
Since a lot of Linux distributions have different methods of installing
packages it's sort of important that we know what your working with (so
you don't get misinformation). If you open a console session and type:

uname -a

and press enter it should tell you a lot about the version. Please paste
the output from uname -a into a reply.
