I haven't worked with Canvas yet, are you able to display SVG
directly on a canvas?
(Any JavaScript SVG libraries that do this maybe?)...

I just went through the directions for installing RMagick on OS X at
hivelogic.com[1], and they seem to have worked properly (although
gruff, for example, took two tries to install even after all that).
No help on Linux, though -- Linux is why I bought my Mac in the first
place. (=
