[PEDA] Freeze During Compact

A few months ago (maybe even a year or so), I started having difficulty 
with 99se SP6 when it compacts a certain databases. 99se simply stops 
responding during the compact process and I have to use task manager to end 
the application. I can usually see when this is happening because the 
progress bar on the status line goes to 100% and clears much quicker than 
normal. At that point 99se no longer responds and the database will never 
successfully compact again (even if I delete the temporary .cmp database).

If I start a brand new database or use different database, the compacting 
functions normally. But if I move files from database that will no longer 
compact to a new database, the new database will not compact either.

The thing that seems to trigger the compacting failure is deleting certain 
.pcb or .lib files in the database (moving them to the recycle bin is not a 
problem, it's only when the bin is emptied or files are deleted [eg. 
shift-delete] without going to the bin that the compact failure occurs).

I've spent many hours trying to figure this one out. Has anybody else 
experienced this problem? Does anyone know of a way to fix files & or 
databases that stop compacting?
