didja ever see a phantom ratsnest in 99SE ?
i do from time to time
they go to a point in 'air' with nothing at the end which can be deleted
they don't seem to really matter but it bugs me i tried saving as ascii and many other things to no avail
now i found a method to kill them
do a place track (copper)
start it at the end of the phantom point (it should snap to it with E-snap on)
route to a valid point
isolate that segment or segements if they go all over the place
then select connected copper and hit ctrl delete

I routinely use it as well. In my schematic library I include commonly used components and add a few fields to the library fields. I include a part number to order from Digikey or Mouser, and the price in quantities of 25, 100, and 1000 to the same fields for each part. I save the schematic library under a separate name (my library) and use the common parts when I design a new schematic. For resistors and capacitors where there might be many values, I leave out the part number field, but use a typical price in the price fields. When I create my BOM, I include these library fields (1-4 in my case) and create a CSV format BOM. I then export the BOM to the outside project folder, and open it with Excel. I can then easily determine a quite accurate cost to build the board since most parts will have a price. It also makes it a snap to order parts for the prototype.

Jeff it's not too hard to use. My company uses it every time we do a board. Just got report, "bom of materials" On the next screen click on the info you want exported to the bom, libary fields, footprint, description and so on. Then hit Next 3 times. Then select the format you want the bom in,... we use CSV for importing into excel Then hit finished. That's it.

OK, I could find nothing in the manual or online help, but I found an entry under a report menu by going systematically through each menu option. I'll fiddle with it. Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jeff

I have been given a 99SE schematic and need to create a BOM from it. How do I do that?
