The problem is that Access does not clean up space unless you compact it.

If you attempt to use the DDB with Visual Source Safe then any change in the 
file causes a very long process to create the difference file for the prior 
version.

Since Protel DXP has done away with the DDB I suggest that you consider not 
using it at all.
