My solution is to run 2 PC's, keep the Protel PC completely isolated from my Internet/e-mail PC. Therefore I do not really need to have any AV running on my Protel PC. Any questionable files are first checked on the "Internet enabled" PC, before being moved over.
I run AVG on the Internet system. I am happy with it. I have not noticed any impact on system performance, as I have with some other anti-virus (Norton, McAfee), I have used. A nice (hardened) e-mail client, which AVG has a plugin for for Anti Virus, and which has an integrated Bayesian (SP?) filter for anti-spam: http://www.ritlabs.com/en/products/thebat/ Makes a very nice combination. After doing all of the work to harden my e-mail against exploits, it is to bad the Altium Forums have gone to more of a Web Based posting system, where I have to be online for the duration, have javascript enabled, etc... ---Phil DS> to answer the original question i am not aware and have not experienced DS> any trouble between Norton anti-virus and Protel 99SE DS> this is not to say that Norton does not suck however DS> (boy, that was a great sentence!)
