Hi Mark,

Check the knowledge base ( http://www.altium.com/forms/kb/default.asp  )
for the following keywords:
"Access violation"
"clean install"

I have had problems like this (AV or some other crash) caused by
corrupted PCB user libraries.

Try holding down the CTRL key while Protel is loading,  this prevents
documents from automatically being opened.  If this avoids the AV,
remove all of the installed libraries from the list of installed libraries.
(you can put them back one at a time later to see which one is causing
the problems)

Now try loading a few of the example projects.  If they can load the
installation may be ok,  and I'd look at that projects files and libraries.
If you still get the AV's I'd follow the clean install procedures.
