I agree with Gary that these issues go far beyond the scope of
Peirce-L. I was just about to send the following points to the
thread about the Luzon hominins. Then I'll get to the new issues.

made crude stone tools. Homo habilis had the better Oldowan

Interesting point: That article about early hominins in Luzon
left open the question whether they were Homo erectus or Denisovan.

I am aware that Gary R suggested a moratorium on such discussion...
but I feel that research on these issues in other areas might be
of interest to some members of the list.
I agree with you and Gary. I'll just cite my slides on "The virtual

These two types of action; the physical and the mental - are very
different in their natures - but both types are required in the
biological world.
But I would replace the distinction physical/mental with
perceptual/cognitive. The article by Brincat et al. talks about
the progression from sensory to task-related processing. That
progression is very closely related to another study I discuss
in slides 49 and 50 of vrmind.pdf. The URL at the bottom of
slide 49 points to the full article, which I highly recommend.
Then on slide 61, I repeat the same diagram as slide 50, but
this time I discuss it in terms of Peirce's 1ns, 2ns, and 3ns.
There are 117 slides in vrmind.pdf, and I agree with Gary that
any discussion would quickly go beyond the scope of Peirce-L.
