Thanks, though am still confused as P discusses Lingnan and
Guangdong as two separate regions, and when I look at either a
Ming map or a contemporary map Guangzhou (Canton) is inside
Guangdong. It may be that Guangdong is called Lingnan when you
include the city (Guangzhou) which is there geographically. And
perhaps you're right 'cause when P discusses some respective
figures for both Lingnan and Guangdong he relies on a book by
Marks titled Tigers, Rice, Silk, and Silt: Environment and Economy
in *Guangdong*, 1250-1850.
