Well given the meetings of CNN News honcho with Tom deLay, Dick Armey
and Rush Limbaugh I don't doubt that CNN is moving right to compete with Fox
"We Report , You Decide, "('ya right!, thanx, Roger Ailes!) News. But, on
BBC that I watch ever night over the net and MSNBC have had footage that is
more than 15 kids. I wouldn't want to leaver the impression that I think
more than a small minority mostly Hamas militants celebrated though. Still,
I'm disgusted at the credulity that folks have about disbelieving that any
Palestinians would and were happy that the USG was attacked. I'd be if I was
there dealing with years of repression and humiliation.
See the Slate story, the World Tribune.com, piece. The James Bennet piece
in the NYT on the 12th, too. The PA knew that worldwide broadcast of the
Hamas inspired crowds (most newspaper stories say about 2,000, a pretty
small manifestation) in Nablus, would be a PR disaster, so the PA threatened
with death according to Slate, those Palestinian videographers that were
filming.
And, as for the lack of press freedom in the PA, see some lbo-talk post I
made about a documentary on Lebanon thaty displeased Arafat and his Press
Ministry.
And, as for cameras and CNN or whoever, well, it's all part of a
propaganda war from all sides in all conflicts.
