And Crews also attacks Freud's theraputic practice, but acknowledges that's different from attacking his purportedly scientific theory. F didn't claim to be just a physician with a novel therapeutic approach. He claimed to have made scientific discoveries about the nature and structure of the mind.

Yes, but the brunt of the criticism contained in Crews's book on Freud
revolves around questions of physical science rather than social science,
such as the failure of Freudian psychiatrists to use double-blind tests,
etc., when it came to patient treatment. Freud was a physician, after all.
