On the Daily Show a couple of days ago, John Steward remarked on how
Ms. Clinton (one of the most educated people to run for president,
having attended both Wellesley College and Yale Law) was (1) rejecting
expert opinion; (2) affecting a folksy accent; and (3) threatening to
obliterate Iran. His comment: is she morphing into a new Dubya? will
he _always_ be the U.S. president?

The expert opinion in question is that of economists (and I see
nothing wrong with criticizing economists), but in this case they're
right: a gas tax holiday _is_ pandering. The oil industry would be the
main beneficiaries of this "holiday."
