As best as I can tell, video gaming is an activity of the youth. Generally, time intensive activities are less expensive for young people then they are for older people. It's similar to the case of those who watch a lot of sporting events. From what I can tell, learning the rules and strategies often occur while one is young. Then, of course, there are people who will pursue time intensive activities even though they are expensive.
