You were the one who asked about creating a political party and I was
answering. I would never put that the top of my priority list (though
some, more modest, political organization seems needed).

As for electoral politics, my response (in the current context) is
simple, as I've said before on pen-l: quoting Joe Hill, don't mourn,
organize. That is, vote for Obama, since he's got the two words
"supreme court" on his side[*] --- even though he seems to be a
reincarnation of Bill Clinton (and seems just as likely to bomb Iran
as John McCain is). That's a major stomach-wrenching thing to do. But
instead of dwelling on it (mourning), "our" emphasis should be on
non-electoral politics (organizing).

I used to be involved in non-electoral politics and I found that I was
not good at it at all and that it conflicted with the rest of my life.
So I stopped. I acknowledge the contradiction, but I hope that others
are listening and will either follow the path I point to or indicate
what's wrong with it.

[*] also, having a Black president would be a major blow against racism.
