Am writing a piece for CounterPunch, due in a few days.?It's part of a "Pulse
of the Plant" series that a number of us?environmental anthropologists are
doing in advance of a conference. Already about 5 pieces published. My piece is
tentatively?called, "A Chemical 911 Still very Possible,
What would a 'Marxist President' do with Dow Chemical?"

I want to ask this highly learned assembly for background and/or quotable
comments for the piece regarding the question of nationalization (will only
quote you if you say I can). and if you only?want to help me with my thinking,
I'd appreciate it.

I'm going to note that Chile's Allende nationalized many corporations,
including Dow Chemical. But I want to say more about what an imaginary?Marxist
President (if that's not an oxymoron), might do.

2 part to question:

1. Should a president nationalize petrochemical and other major energy
companies?
2. What would?the consequences be?
3. Is there a list of all entities?"nationalized" in the U.S. right now
alongside the Freddies??

By?the way I just read Michael Perelman's two?books The Perverse?Economy and
The Confiscation of American Prosperity (where he predicts the next great
depression!)- they were absolutely terrific and I'll be ordering one of them
for a class next winter).

Thanks in advance.

Best,

Brian McKenna
