Jim D.:
why "obviously"? Obama wants to intensify the war in Afghanistan,
after all. And a lot of the wars that the US has been involved in or
started have occurred under Democratic Party presidents (Korean war,
Vietnam War, invasion of the Dominican Republic, the war on Serbia,
etc.)

CB: and Wilson WWI, Roosevelt WWII. In the 20th Century, all Democrats started
wars until Carter, and Democrats started _all_ of the wars that had US troops ;
and Republicans started none of the wars ( except for the smaller skirmishes as
you say below) until Reagan/Bush I , who did Grenada, Panama and Iraq.

I think Republicans "started" all or most of the recessions/depressions.

That pattern has been substantially reversed by the Bushes, so now maybe a
Democrat can stop the wars.

The current Bush has been trying to help the GOP's record, but
it used to be that the DP was seen as the party of war. (Partly that
was an illusion, since the GOP was involved in smaller wars, such as
the attacks on countries in the Caribbean and Central America in the
interwar period
