"Geolgoical time" makes you look silly; all of human history is short by
geological time. What you mean (or ought to have meant if you were
thinking instead of knee-jerking) is that it is short by _historical_
time: i.e., 61 years against about 5000 years of post neolithic human
history.

Put that way, it is interesting. When has capitalism NOT been in crisis.
Capitalism IS the crisis of human history (e.g., among about 20 other
things, global warming). And its own short history has been one fucking
crisis after another, most resolved (directly or indirectly) through a
new bloodbath of some sort. (See Marx's chapter on the working day.)
What we are seeing is just one more exemplification of Marx's
fundamental point, the historicity of capitalism.
