Why not? Not a paradise, but in 1920 Debs received a million votes
while in prison, no? You could argue that that's not a lot better than
Nader's showing in 2000, but Debs, it seems to me came from a richer,
organised, movement, whereas Nader supporters in 2000 were a large but
alienated bunch of "bleeding-heart" liberals like me. And then there's
also the history of the CPUSA in the early 1900s.
