Any of these specualtions (Doug's or Jim's) MAY be correct -- but they
do represent an attempt at mind-reading, because they deal with Obama's
HIDDEN motive. The only view that corresponds _directly_ to observed
data is that Obama BELIEVES, REALLY BELIEVES, that there should be a tax
cut.

I don't think political judgments should be grounded in mind-reading.
