Now large masses of liberal and well-intentioned whites will not
"identify" with anyone in the White House now any more than they did in
the past. But what they will do is say to themselves, Hurray, racism is
no more. See, we've got a black president. That proves that we aren't
racist anymore. So we can leave it to the cops to take care of those 10s
of millions of blacks in central cities." That's a bit crude, but less
crude than the idea that a black in the whitehouse is going to magically
transfrom u.s. life and politics.

CB: This is one-sided analysis,
and not what anti-racist activists
should take out of this election.
Of course, there are still some
people who are influenced by
 racist ideas, more and less.
The above types described are
not what is new coming out of
this election. The new and
emerging out of this
 election of a Black person
as President is the leap forward
 in anti-racist consciousness of
tens of millions of White people
who voted for that President and
now support him as President.
That's about as big as the leap
forward in mass White
anti-racist consciousness in
the Civil Rights era. All
ant-racist and pro-working class
 militants should
be celebrating this historic
advance by White working masses.
We in Black Bottom Detroit drink a
toast to our brilliant White sisters and
brothers across America. "Yes you did !"
