Please be specific. For example, nationalizing financial institutions and then making them all obey strict regulations of the sort that prevailed in the 1950s & 1960s would "challenge the rich" on the political level (which is why these policies have not yet been implemented). But they would serve the rich in the long run, since it would get them out of the current mess and prevent new disasters of this sort for a decade or two. That is, does "challenging the rich" include acting like the adult to that bunch of crying brats? You could say that Obama has _already_ challenged the rich, since he doesn't want to renew Bushie's welfare-for-richies (tax cut) program.
