I think Ravi was objecting to the tyranny of science. Science in the
21'st century has become what the Bible was in the middle ages - the
ultimate arbiter of every important question.

And if the science to answer certain questions does not exist, it
becomes necessary to make something up. Who was it who said that "if
God didn't exist, it'd be necessary to invent Him"?
