According to the BLS as of 2008 about 10% of USA men aged 25 to 54 years just don't "want a job", so they're not covered by Obama promises. This was 2008. Increase this number of don't "want a job" to say 20% and "mission accomplished": unemployment will just be 0% at last! And even better: no need to create any job or spend any money! Just ask the BLS to be more efficient at counting those who "want a job". Meaning "really really really want a job". Such is the powerful magic of the unemployment measure, at work since 1948 in a country near you: http://guerby.org/blog/index.php/2009/01/24/193-l-inexorable-ascension-de-la-population-sans-emploi-aux-usa Laurent PS: recent blog comments: http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/07/31/how-far-out-of-line-is-the-unemployment-rate/ Not much of a "Conscience of a liberal" for the "inactive" there. http://economistsview.typepad.com/economistsview/2009/07/sluggish-wages-and-employment.html Usual strawman and no answer. _______________________________________________ pen-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.csuchico.edu/mailman/listinfo/pen-l
