There's a difference between saying that Israel is the boss
("pessimism of the intellect") and saying that there's "no point in
trying to do anything" ("pessimism of the will"). Contrary to Hegel,
what's real is not rational.

Old Antonio would have preferred a different combination, i.e.,
pessimism of the intellect, optimism of the will. Maybe it's
difficult, but it can be pulled off.
