No revolutions? As Ipuwer lamented, "slaves are wearing the jewels of
their masters." And the Book of Exodus describes the same event
(celebrating, not lamenting) as "The Israelites found favor in the
eyes of the Egyptians" and left with their gold and jewels.
...Very interesting that the Israelites
themselves claim that they got gold and jewels from their hosts in
Egypt...The Israelites became rude guests. I think they got kicked
out.
So, it wasn't about "let them go"...
The Israelites (the twelve families descended, 3-4 generations later,
from the sons of Joseph) were immigrants, not "guests," nor were they
"kicked out." It is necessary to unpack the Biblical foundation myth
to separate fact from myth and legend, and from the false long
Egyptian chronology accepted as dogma by conventional history on the
basis of that myth and legend. The factual basis is an enormous
natural catastrophe (called the "Plagues" in the Bible and the "Blast
of Heaven's Displeasure" by the Egyptian historian Manetho) and
consequent social revolution that devastated Lower Egypt. A great
mass of Egyptians (Exodus calls it a "mixed multitude") led by an
upper-class Egyptianized Israelite (Moses) set out to escape the
devastation. Many perished (at the Sea of Passage) but most survived
and were promptly organized by Moses into twelve "tribes" named after
the sons of Joseph (the population of the the Delta region, "Goshen,"
already had a large Asiatic component). The overthrow of the (Lower)
Egyptian ruling class was completed with the invasion of an Arabian
tribe known (to the Israelites) as "Amalekites" or "Evil Angels," and
to the Egyptians as "Shepherd Kings" or "Hyksos," who ruled Egypt
until the time of Saul (first King of Israel) and Ahmose the Liberator
(founder of the "eighteenth" Egyptian dynasty).
