I was making a serious point. Some conversations are more likely to be

I hope you are right, but this is an election that  depends on turnout. We
are facing massive voter disenfranchisement and discouragement (in the
sense of voters being afraid to vote). The Democrats also lost their best
registration and turnout troops when they allowed ACORN to be destroyed.
And when the Democratic Party tries to use Social Security against the
Republicans, there is plenty of video the Republicans can play of Obama
speaking in favor gutting Social Security to counter that.

BTW, while I agree with Carrol that the Democratic Party is a major problem
for the left, I don't agree that a Republican win in November will help
with that. Instead of supporting Obama, Democratic loyalists will
concentrate on defeating Republican incumbents with zero concern over how
awful the replacements are.
