An alternative "glass half full" possibility is that a subset of mainstream
populists like Warren will become radicalized if/when a strong Left
emerges. Do you have a historical or sociological argument for your
pessimistic view?

Any strong Left has to include a large portion of the population who are
currently registered Democrats and maybe Warren-supporters. How are you
going to do that if you write them off at the outset as irredeemable
Enemies?
