I am not anti-communist. I am anti-Stalinist. It is people with your ideology that destroyed communism. I have no idea who you are Charlie, other than the fact that you write a book every 10 years or so and that you have some kind of obsession with me but you strike me as a political virgin in the sense that you really have no idea how the CP went from over a hundred thousand members in the 1930s to what it is today, a group of about a thousand people buried in the Democratic Party. This was a movement that Trotsky likened to syphilis and he was right. When I was young, there were lots of people like you running around drunk on Stalin's turgid articles who helped to break SDS into a thousand pieces. Most of them are dead now or living a life of resigned obscurity. It is of some consolation that among the mailing lists you haunt, there is not a soul as detached from political reality as you. Back in the early 90s when I first learned about the Internet, there were plenty.
