If the left was unable to stir vast public outrage about the US Army's transformation into an amazingly lifelike replica of the Wehrmacht, I don't think the left will be very effective in capitalizing on today's living-space squeeze either. Then again, the public is more exquisitely attuned to domestic pocketbook issues than to the agony of foreigners, so maybe the housing market is the left's golden opportunity after all.
