Funny how eager you are to work with religious conservatives, who
have troglodytic outlooks on gender relations and homosex, but you're
willing to consign 69% of the white American pop to the trash bin.
Religion doesn't make Black folks favor the atomic bombing. Black
folks -- and probably also Latinos -- are on the average more sexually
conservative than white folks and probably Asians (who often fail to
get counted, so their opinions are less clear), too, but that's a
problem that is most likely easier to fix than the problem of people
who think it's OK to use an atomic bomb, at this dangerous time in
American and world history. After all, if America nukes (or lets
Israel nuke) Iran (or any other country), the bomb won't make any
distinction between gay and straight Iranians (or any other gay and
straight people). To be sure, Washington probably still cares about
world opinion enough not to use the first strike, but it hasn't put it
off the table, and 69% of the white folks who approve of the atomic
bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki give it confidence that it does not
have to do so. We have to tell them frankly, don't be stupid and be
part of the problem, be part of the solution instead.
