Recently I was asked by my former teacher to help my former school setup
a database system for the school library. Hereto they being using MS
Access and somehow many problems cropped up lately. No longer able to
torelate the probs, they decided to change the system.
I thought about it a while and I was going to recomend dBASE as a
replacement, then somebody told me about SQL, sure I used SQL before but
that's just a minimal exposure. From the info I got, PostgreSQL is
really a good database with some highly advance features, which I myself
not sure if they will ever be put to good use. Nevertheless I was
assured that PostgreSQL is a good choice.
Then as I was preparing to test out PostgreSQL on my own, came
discussion on SLASHDOT about the merits of MySQL vs PostgreSQL and I
realised I know little about both of these despite the heavy readings I
did on the manuals.
I ask now for anyone here that know any of these softwares and able to
franky tell me their opinions and exprience in using any of the database
s/w.
Thank you for your time.
