You may hit this problem when DNS tried to resolved a host
name using the DNS BUT you are not connected directly to internet.
You may tried to update your hosts file under /etc to include
the ip that your linux tried to resolved. Make sure that the
resolver tried the file first then DNS.
or refer to HOWTO. When not connected, make sure the the bind
cache file name is empty. This always happen to dial-up server.
