Microsoft's legal case reflects deeply on the credibility of it's image an
allrounder IT solution.

There are a few factors to be considered before we analyse the impact , as what
Mr. Tan said.

1) Percentage of "Microsoft celik" is proportionately higher in Malaysia,
compared to "Linux-celik".
2) The PC & Microsoft has a so-called hand in hand (ask any layman, and he'll
know Windows. Ask Linux, most probably you may get a stare... )
3) Introduction of Corel Linux , that is bundled with PC's allow a more
flexible approach to a choice of OS to be used.

There is an undoubted factor that one of the reason of Microsoft fame in
Malaysia is piracy. With the availability of software at rock-bottom price, it
has spurred a large inpour of

Let's look at the local senario.

1) How many centres actually offers Linux as it's program? 2 years ago.. you'd
have to burrow deep into yellow pages, and still amount to nothing.
2) The image of Linux being a "techie's-OS" doesnt help either
3) Software houses in Malaysia, almost all of them, specialise in Microsoft. A
handful that does linux would charge you an arm and leg to develop Linux based
software (expecially X-Win based).
4) Even computer science studies in Malaysia doesnt indulge in the Linux
factor, rather than looking it as a study for how operating/distributed systems
work.

Linux is coming strong as an alternative .. maybe we might see a reform in the
IT industry ?

P/S : It's just a comment...
