TNB to invest RM61mil to upgrade services in Kelantan

KELANTAN Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) will invest RM61mil to upgrade its
services to the state for its financial year of Aug 31, 2005 to Sept 1,2006.
The amount marks an increase of RM48mil compare with the previous financial
year.
TNB subsidiary Kelantan Tenaga Distribution general manager Zulkifli Abdul
Rahman said the money would be spent on 33 new upgrading and maintenance
projects.
Zulkifli said its supply has covered almost 99% of the state with only some
pockets of residential areas notably orang asli settlements which do not have
daily supply.
Such areas were usually supplied for 12-hours from 7am to 7pm daily, he said
during a TNB media night at the Renaissance Hotel in Kota Baru on Monday.
Among those present were TNB media and public relations senior manager Omar
Sidek, its state senior engineer Md Yuslan Md Yusof and state customer service
manager Abdul Aziz Mat Jelani.
The huge expenditure was needed as Kelantan has registered a 6% in consumer
demand for power in the past few years.
Zulkifli said supply for the state was consistent except during massive floods
which happened during the monsoon season.
He said the internationally recognised system of average interuption duration
index showed that each consumer in Kelantan only suffered from 140 minutes of
