Schools benefit from IT programme
MULTIMEDIA University (MMU) organised the [EMAIL PROTECTED] Program in
Kelantan recently.
It was aimed at encouraging secondary school students to develop an
interest in computer and IT-related knowledge.
The schools selected were SMK Tumpat, SMK. Geting, SMK Chabang Empat
and SMK Sultan Ibrahim 1.
SMK Tumpat and Geting each sent 80 students to take part while SMK
Chabang Empat sent 100.
However, SMK Sultan Ibrahim exceeded expectations when they sent 120
students, more than the quota set. The opening ceremony was launched
by Higher Education Management Department director-general Prof Datuk
Dr Hassan Said at Pondok Darul Hanan Selehor, Kelantan.
The programme is supported by the Higher Education Ministry,
Education Ministry and public universities with campuses in
Kelantan.
This is the ninth time that MMU has organised the programme. The main
objective is to ensure that the chosen schools become the hub of IT
and multimedia studies in Kelantan.
About 100 facilitators comprising MMU students and three advisers
made their way to Kelantan to share their knowledge in computers and
IT with the students.//Thestar
