KUALA LUMPUR: Nadicorp Holdings Sdn Bhd is exploring opportunities to expand to Myanmar and Indonesia.
Executive chairman Datuk Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh said the company was in talks with potential partners in Myanmar and planned to begin establishing a foothold in the country by the year-end.
Over there, besides pick-up trucks and vans, buses are a principal means of transport, and there is room for us, he said at the handing-over ceremony of 38 luxury buses worth RM17mil from MAN Truck & Bus (M) Sdn Bhd to Nadicorp
Holdings.
Nadicorp Holdings also plans to venture into Indonesia this year.
We are looking to supply buses to companies in Indonesia first, and later examine the possibility of becoming an operator there, Nadzmi
added.
Of the 38 buses handed over to Nadicorp, 28 are for Transnasional and 10 for Syarikat Kenderaan Melayu Kelantan.
This brings Nadicorp Holdings bus fleet to 2,000, which will help the company handle high passenger loads especially during the weekends. The company averages one million passengers per month, and Nadzmi said the number tended to grow by 15% to 20% each year.

Nadicorp is also set to receive four double-axle bus chassis for double-deckers from MAN Truck & Bus this year. The company, which owns Kumpulan Kenderaan Malaysia Bhd (a consortium of eight bus companies) and Parkmay Bhd, is the largest operator of public bus
transportation in the country.
Parkmay, which is currently designated a PN4 company, is undergoing the final stage of restructuring and Nadzmi said a final report had been submitted to the Securities Commission.
Earlier, Nadicorp Holdings said it hoped to save at least RM3mil annually in fuel costs following an agreement with Samsung Corp of South Korea to operate buses using compressed natural gas (CNG). Nadzmi said the company eventually hoped to have 30% of its buses using CNG.
MAN Truck & Bus is part of MAN Nutzfahrqeuge AG from Munich, Germany, which currently produces 74,000 vehicles a year.
Managing director Eric Coste said the company hoped to sell 100,000 units worldwide by 2010 and was looking to expand its overseas market. It plans to enter into a joint venture with a company in India to produce 24,000 vehicles a year, half of which will be for the
domestic Indian market and the rest for export. //Thestar
