Hi Tony,

I haven't updated the patches in a while. This was an exercise in seeing if we
could get reduce the number of performance monitoring interfaces in use in the
linux Kernel.

The oprofile for ia64 already uses the perfmon interface. However, it will need
to be updated for the changes in the interface.
