I sincerely hope that I'm not alone in thinking that the ithreads stuff
as it exists today is useful.
If nobody else thinks it is useful, I'd be agreeable to removing all
the USE_ITHREADS code from the sources, and retiring promptly to the
Himalayas. ;-)
