I'd like to install perl on a z/OS 1.4 system, but most of the traffic on this list seems to be about it not building.
A few questions before I start then: 1) If I get the latest version from CPAN, am I likely to be able to get it to build to a point I can run programs under it, even if I can't get things like IP sockets working? Is there a previous version (a 5.6 for example) that would be better? 2) Is there a site (other than this list) with practical advice on setting up and using perl in a z/OS environment, from people practically using it? (Should someone set one up if not?) Or is the README.OS390 file sufficient?
