Don't worry about the game.

But that's all I hear about is the game.

It's all game game game game.

The subset that like the game, also like to talk.

The ones that don't care about the game, don't care to tell you about it.

But one day they are going to discover CPANTS, and see that 2 of their modules use old Module::Install versions, one doesn't use strict, and 1 has a weird corrupt zip file, and they'll fix it.

And there will be a net benefit as a result.

I'd actually love to see some statistics, if we are collecting any, of the "good vs bad" scores for the various kwalitee elements over time.

That might give us a better idea of how big an impact there is.

Of course, we wouldn't have any stats from before CPANTS existed...

If you don't like the game, just let the kiddies play, keep your own cage clean and ignore it. Thank of the Kwalitee game like The Wiggles. Just learn to tune it out most of the time, and treat it like the sideshow it is.

And I for one would MUCH rather have the Kwalitee game as a social distraction than Perl golf or obfuscation competitions. At least this has a net positive effect over time, instead of a net negative effect (in the case of the obfu competitions, golf seems harmless enough)
