What other language would they be using that required a license fee?
That's not to say that they don't benefit from Perl being free, but at
the same time, you're secretly saying that you wish Perl wasn't free,
even if indirectly taxed.

Let's not forget that many companies do give back by not giving money,
but contributing to CPAN, sending patches, and many other things. Using
open source is not without cost just because there is no license fee.
