Speaking of hands: I remember several years ago when we selected a mascot for the OpenOffice education project. The winning entry was a drawing from a student in Italy. It was a sea bird doing an "ok" sign with his hand. A couple of days after it was chosen we got inundated with angry emails and there was a huge brouhaha in logs and Slashdot. It turned out that the "ok" sign is an extremely rude gesture in Brazil. I think it refers to a female body part, similar to how the American hand gesture "the bird" refers to a male body part. We had to edit the drawing to change the hand gesture to a waving hand. It was an interesting episode. On the other hand, we probably got more marketing for OpenOffice than any campaign we ever did. :-) Cheers, Daniel. -- Intolerant people should be shot. _______________________________________________ Perldl mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.jach.hawaii.edu/mailman/listinfo/perldl
