I agree, and love the term "advanced frills." In defense of the complications, I did write that "I wanted...," hence, the notes. See, I wanted PLplot. I don't really need PLplot in order to install PDL. Once I wanted PLplot, I wanted nice fonts, hence, FreeType. Once I wanted nice fonts, I wanted fontconfig. One thing led to another, and we all woke up the next day with a headache and a regret. I will slim the custom page down to an easy './configure, make, make install' three-step, and suggest "advanced frills" for bungee jumpers and masochists. -- Puneet Kishor http://www.punkish.org Carbon Model http://carbonmodel.org Charter Member, Open Source Geospatial Foundation http://www.osgeo.org Science Commons Fellow, http://sciencecommons.org/about/whoweare/kishor Nelson Institute, UW-Madison http://www.nelson.wisc.edu ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Assertions are politics; backing up assertions with evidence is science ======================================================================= _______________________________________________ Perldl mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.jach.hawaii.edu/mailman/listinfo/perldl
