This comes back to an observation I made earlier.

At the top of the 'Get PDL' page we need *simple* instructions

1) how to get the PDL source (CPAN, sourceforge)
2) the absolutely minimal install instructions (see generic 3 liner below)
3) 2-3 lines of text that describe that this should get you a minimal PDL, the 
existence of binary installs for many platforms (point to instructions below) 
and link to the more complete 'Manual Install' with all dependencies

This must be all on the page, not just linked to a wiki page. A new user needs 
to see that a minimal set of commands should result in a quick but minimal 
install.

I really like Daniel's effort to date but that gaping hole must be plugged 
quickly.
