Subject: [Perldl] CHM/PDL-2.4.9_008.tar.gz released to CPAN
To PDL Users/Developers-
This is a bug fix roll-up release of the latest
PDL git.
Chris, with your experimental change to t/picrgb.t, the tests get run
(on my PC) for GIF, PNM and TIFF.
No problems with PNM and TIFF, but the GIF testing fails.
I see error messages such as:
wpnm: pbmconverter error: 'ppmquant' is not recognized as an internal or
external command,
operable program or batch file.
Indeed, I have no ppmquant.exe so I guess that's the problem. (My Netpbm
is about 6 years old, but it's the most recent that's provided by the
GnuWin32 project.)
I guess I'll add NetPBM to the list of Alien::XX candidates.
What is the current stable version and what version do you
have?
The GIF testing happens first, and the failure actually kills the
script, so no other picrgb.t tests get run.
Hmm, that is not desirable. Any way to determine what
causes the script to exit/crash? A test that doesn't
run to completion is broken. Not that fixing the situation
is easy.
My Netpbm installation does, however, contain a perl script named
'ppmquant'. Maybe there's some way it can be utilised. (I'll look
further at this over the coming days.)
Maybe making a ppmquant.bat with pltobat from the perl build
process?
No other problems to report, except that the PDL::Graphics::PLplot
version 0.54 that ships with PDL is still broken if we build against the
latest plplot-5.9.8.
Not sure if I should wait for Doug to upload his new improved
PDL::Graphics::PLplot or just push an interim fix to the problem, anyway.
Cheers,
Rob
