hari ini berita mengenai penembakan terhadap warga yang sedang sholat oleh
aparat mendominasi halaman muka harian-harian di tanah air maupun
internasional.
saya benar-benar mengutuk tindakan keji ini.
Hal apakah yang bisa mendorong aparat (berseragam!!) untuk melakukan
pembantaian
keji ini?

Ini juga bisa menjadi pertanyaan buat kita: sejauh manakah sistem di Indonesia
perlu dirombak. Bagaimana caranya membentuk satu negara baru yang bersih
diatas puing-puing sekarang akibat perpecahan SARA dan politik....
Selain itu juga, bagaimana caranya memulihkan kewibawaan dari pemerintah.
Kejadian seperti ini akan terus berlangsung selama kewibawaan pemerintah
belum pulih....

Indonesia Sends More Troops To Riot

AMBON, Indonesia (AP) -- Indonesia today sent hundreds of reinforcements to
riot-torn Ambon Island and ordered troops not to take sides in fighting
between
Muslims and Christians.
In the capital, Jakarta, about 2,000 Islamic students chanting ``holy war''
and
``God is great'' protested outside military headquarters, accusing soldiers of
supporting Christian mobs.
Religious clashes have claimed at least 38 lives in and around Ambon in the
past week. About 150 people have been slain since the violence erupted in
Maluku province, once known as the Spice Islands, in January.
On Monday, five people were killed when Christians attacked worshippers at a
mosque near Ambon, which is 1,400 miles east of Jakarta. Police have refuted
claims they shot four Muslims.
The military has insisted it has not taken sides and said it would investigate
the killings.
About 1,400 more soldiers arrived in Ambon on Tuesday and today. Their numbers
bolstered hundreds of police and soldiers already on the island.
In Jakarta, military chief Gen. Wiranto pledged that hundreds more soldiers
would be sent to Ambon in the next few days.
``I ordered the troops to shoot at their feet so as to paralyze them but not
kill them,'' he said.
Hundreds of houses have been burned, and tens of thousands of people have fled
their homes in the rioting.
Authorities have been unable to contain brawls in Maluku, where rival mobs
have
fought with swords, bows and arrows and gasoline bombs.
There were no reports of fresh violence in Ambon today. Residents, however,
said the island remained tense.
In Jakarta, the students condemned the military's handling of the violence.
``The soldiers are involved. They are taking sides,'' said one protester, who
identified himself as Reza.
About 90 percent of Indonesia's 210 million people are Muslim, making it the
world's most populous Islamic state. A large proportion of Ambon's population,
however, is Christian.
Love and hatred are the same thing, the former is just aggressive and the
latter passive....
