I will do some sleuthing and begging. Maybe they'll make an exception and
release the font early.
This is a desperate situation.

could be made to be backwards compatible.

But maybe not intentionally fixing it. Especially if it's something
technically simple. Of course, Microsoft is not the one who should be
improving Gecko.
But for long term effects, I can see that a site like BBC which has a need
to use diacritics will have to either put up a sign like mine that says,
"sorry, Win/IE only" or not use diacritics at all.
